How to open Google Documents on an iPhone

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to view my Google Docs on my iPhone but I’m running into some trouble. I found a code example online that’s supposed to help, but when I try to log in, I get this weird error message:

serviceBase: objectFetcher: failedWithStatus:403 data:GData`ServiceForbiddenException`403.4 SSL required
Terminating in response to SpringBoard's termination.

Does anyone know what this means or how to fix it? I’m not super tech-savvy, so I’m a bit lost here. Any help would be awesome!

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

I’ve encountered this issue before, and it’s often related to network settings. First, ensure your iPhone is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. If you’re using cellular data, try switching to Wi-Fi.

Next, check if you have any VPN or proxy settings enabled on your device. These can sometimes interfere with Google’s security protocols. Disable them temporarily and try again.

If the problem persists, go to your iPhone’s Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data. This can resolve some authentication issues.

As a last resort, you might need to update your iOS to the latest version. Google occasionally updates their security requirements, which older iOS versions might not support.

Remember, using the official Google Docs app is generally more reliable than browser-based access on mobile devices.

hey mate, have u tried clearin ur browser cache? sometimes that fixes weird stuff. also, make sure ur usin the latest version of safari or chrome on ur iphone. if nothin else works, maybe try loggin out of ur google account on the phone and then loggin back in. hope this helps!

As someone who’s dealt with similar issues, I can tell you that error message is usually related to a security setting. Google often requires a secure connection (SSL) for accessing their services, which might be causing your problem.

Here’s what worked for me:

First, make sure you’re using the official Google Docs app from the App Store. It’s much more reliable than trying to access docs through a browser or third-party apps.

If you already have the app, try deleting and reinstalling it. Sometimes this clears up weird login issues.

Also, double-check that your iPhone’s date and time settings are correct. Oddly enough, this can sometimes cause authentication problems with Google services.

If none of that helps, you might want to try revoking access for your Google account on your iPhone and then signing in again from scratch. That often resolves tricky permission issues.

Hope this helps you get back to your docs!
