I recently created a Discord server and I’m having trouble with the music bot. In another server I was in, everyone could use the music bot to adjust volume, add songs to the queue, and more. But in my server, when I use Lunabot for music, only I can control it. The bot says others need admin permission.
I’ve tried setting the channel permissions to allow everyone to use bots and slash commands, but it’s not working. Is there a way to let my friends use the music bot without making them admins? Are there any music bots that allow access for all users by default?
I’m new to Discord, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hey there! I had a similar issue when I set up my first Discord server. The key is to adjust the bot’s permissions, not just the channel permissions. Here’s what worked for me:
Go to your Server Settings, then to the Integrations tab. Find your music bot there and click on it. You should see options to manage its permissions. Make sure the @everyone role has permission to use the music commands.
If you’re using Lunabot specifically, try the command !perms or !permissions in your server. This usually brings up a menu where you can tweak who can do what.
Also, some bots have a DJ role system. You might need to create a DJ role and assign it to everyone, or use a command like !setup to configure the bot properly.
If all else fails, consider switching to a more user-friendly bot like Groovy or Rythm (if they’re still around). They tend to work out of the box for all users.
Hope this helps! Let me know if you need more specific guidance.
hey, try this: go to server settings > roles > find ur music bot. make sure it has permissions like ‘connect’ and ‘speak’. then create a ‘DJ’ role with music command perms. give everyone this role.
if that don’t work, try a diff bot like octave or hydra. they usually work for all users by default. good luck!
I’ve dealt with this issue before. The problem isn’t with channel permissions, but with the bot’s settings.
Go to Server Settings > Roles > [Your Music Bot]. Make sure the bot has the necessary permissions like ‘Connect’, ‘Speak’, and ‘Use Voice Activity’. Then, create a new role called ‘DJ’ or something similar. Give this role permission to use music commands.
Next, assign this new role to everyone in your server. You can do this manually or use a command like ‘!setup’ if your bot supports it.
If that doesn’t work, try using a different music bot. Some are more user-friendly and work for all users by default. Octave and Hydra are good alternatives to try.
Remember, each bot has its own setup process, so check their documentation for specific instructions.
