How to switch to a work account in Google Sheets app without linking accounts?

I have a situation that’s driving me crazy. I’m using a temporary Google account for the Play Store, but I really need to access Google Sheets with my work account instead. The browser version won’t work for what I need to do.

Every time I install the Sheets app, it automatically signs me in with the temporary account I use for downloads. I really don’t want to add my work account as a second account because I want to keep these two accounts completely separate.

Is there a way to run Google Sheets using only my work account without any connection to the other one? Maybe through microG or some other method? I also need Google Meet access with the same work account.

What would be the smartest way to handle this? I thought about using a different user profile but I’m worried I’ll miss important work notifications that way.

work profile on android is your best bet. it creates a completely separate workspace - your work google account can’t see any personal stuff. install sheets in the work profile and it won’t know your temp account exists. you’ll still get notifications, just swipe down to switch between profiles. way cleaner than constantly switching accounts or clearing data.

Dealing with this now and found a solid workaround. Sign out of the temp account completely in device settings, then do a fresh install of Google Sheets with just your work account. Clear all Google data from your device first - that’s the key part. For notifications, I run Gmail and Meet in a separate browser profile just for work. You’ll get desktop notifications without mixing accounts on mobile. Keeps everything separated but working. Your company might also support Google Workspace mobile management. It creates a work container that runs separate from your personal Google stuff. Worth asking IT about it.

Had this same headache for years until I found a way around it.

I stopped wrestling with account switching altogether and just automated my Google Sheets work. Don’t even use the mobile app anymore for work stuff.

Set up automated processes that handle everything in the background. Need to update data, create reports, or sync between systems? It all happens automatically without signing in anywhere.

You can do the same thing with Google Meet - automate scheduling, participant management, follow-ups. Keeps your accounts totally separate like you want.

The automation handles authentication behind the scenes. Never worry about which account’s active on your device. Work stays work, personal stays personal.

Saved me tons of frustration switching accounts. Plus you get way more functionality than basic app access.
