I’m trying to modify version details for one of my projects in JIRA but I think I need the ‘Administer Projects’ permission to do this.
Is there a way to see what permissions I currently have? I want to check if I have the right access level before asking my admin for help.
I can already see which groups I’m part of in my profile settings, but I can’t figure out what specific permissions come with each group. It would be really helpful to have a complete view of my project-level permissions.
Does anyone know where I can find this information in the JIRA interface?
Here’s a quicker way to check. Go to your project dashboard and find ‘Versions’ in the left nav. See an ‘Add Version’ button or edit icons next to versions? You’ve got the right permissions. Click any version - if you can modify the details, you’re good to go. This beats digging through permission schemes when you just want to confirm access for one thing.
just check the sidebar on any project page. scroll down to “project settings”. if it’s greyed out, then yeah, you lack admin perms. same goes for the versions tab, if you can’t edit, better reach out to an admin for help.
To view your current permissions in JIRA, navigate to your project and select the gear icon or ‘Project Settings’ from the sidebar. In the ‘Permissions’ section, you can view the active permission scheme. By clicking on that scheme, you’ll find detailed information about the permissions assigned to different roles and groups, including whether your group has the ‘Administer Projects’ permission. Keep in mind that permission settings may vary from one project to another, so check each project individually if necessary.
