Hey everyone! I’m having this super annoying problem with my Instagram stories. The GIF sticker option just vanished completely and I can’t add any animated images to my posts anymore. I’ve tried closing and reopening the app multiple times but nothing works. This started happening a few days ago and it’s really frustrating because I love using funny GIFs in my stories. Has anyone else experienced this issue recently? I’m wondering if it’s a bug with the latest app update or maybe there’s some setting I accidentally changed. My friends can still use the GIF feature just fine on their phones so I know it’s not a widespread outage. Would really appreciate any suggestions on how to get this working again!
Had this exact problem last month - drove me nuts for days. Instagram does regional rollouts and sometimes kills features during maintenance or testing. The GIF search uses Giphy, so when that connection breaks, everything disappears. I hit up Instagram support through the app and they said it was a backend issue. Took about a week but it fixed itself. If cache clearing doesn’t work, definitely report it in the app. They use those reports to prioritize fixes based on how many people complain. Sometimes you just have to wait out Instagram’s glitches.
same thing happened to me after an update too! my phone was low on storage and instagram auto disabled some features. cleared like 2GB and gif search worked instantly. def check your storage before reinstalling the whole app!
Instagram’s cache is probably corrupted. Happened to me twice last year - clearing the app storage fixed it both times.
Go to phone settings > apps > Instagram, then clear cache and data. You’ll have to log back in but your posts are safe.
If that doesn’t work, delete Instagram and reinstall it fresh. Yeah it’s annoying, but app files get corrupted during updates sometimes.
Check for pending updates too. Instagram pushes fixes constantly and you might have one waiting.
