I’ve been thinking about how cool it would be if the Fellow Aiden app had some automation features. You know, like being able to use it with the iOS Shortcuts app or even connecting it to IFTTT or Zapier.
I’ve got this idea for my office. Imagine if we could link the app to our company’s Slack channel for coffee announcements. It would be awesome to have an automatic message pop up when the brewing is done. That way, we’d all know exactly when to dash to the coffee machine for a fresh cup!
Has anyone else thought about this? What other ways could we use automation with the Fellow Aiden app? I’m really curious to hear your ideas!
i’ve been thinkin bout this too! it’d be sweet to have the aiden app sync with my smart home setup. like, imagine if it could trigger my smart lights to change color when the coffee’s ready. or maybe even start up my favorite morning playlist on spotify. that’d be a game changer for my mornings fr
As a long-time Fellow Aiden user, I’ve been itching for automation features too. At my office, we’ve jury-rigged a solution using a Raspberry Pi connected to the Aiden. It monitors the app’s status and sends notifications to our team chat when the coffee’s ready. It’s not perfect, but it’s a start.
I’d love to see Fellow open up an API. Imagine integrating with smart scales to automatically adjust grind size based on bean weight, or connecting to weather APIs to suggest ideal brew methods for the day’s humidity. The possibilities are endless.
One dream feature: voice control integration. Being able to say, ‘Hey Google, start my morning brew’ while I’m still in bed would be game-changing. Until then, we’ll keep tinkering with our DIY solutions.
I’ve actually experimented with integrating the Fellow Aiden app into my daily workflow. One particularly useful automation I’ve set up is connecting it to my calendar. When I have an early meeting scheduled, the app triggers my coffee maker to start brewing 15 minutes before. This ensures I always have a fresh cup ready for those crucial morning calls. It’s been a significant productivity booster, especially for impromptu virtual meetings. I’d be intrigued to see Fellow officially support such integrations, perhaps through an API. This could open up a whole ecosystem of coffee-related automations tailored to individual preferences and schedules.
