I’m getting really annoyed with Spotify lately. It seems like no matter what playlist or feature I use, I keep hearing the same songs over and over. My music taste is pretty diverse, but the app keeps pushing the same tracks at me.
I’ve tried the AI DJ, Daily Mix, song radio, and Smart Shuffle. They all feel stuck in a loop of maybe 100-200 songs across different genres. It’s driving me crazy!
Has anyone else noticed this? I used to love finding new music on Spotify, but now it feels nearly impossible. Even Discover Weekly, which used to be great, seems to be missing the mark more often than not.
At least the Release Radar still works okay. But overall, it feels like something’s changed with their algorithm, and not for the better. Any tips for improving recommendations or alternatives you’ve found helpful?
yeah, i’ve noticed that too. spotify’s been kinda meh lately with recommendations. have u tried making collaborative playlists with friends? that’s helped me find new stuff. also, checking out artist radio for lesser-known acts in ur fave genres can sometimes uncover hidden gems. just my 2 cents
totally get ur frustration! ive found using last.fm to scrobble my listens helps. it gives better recs based on my actual taste. also, try following some music critics or djs on social media. they often share cool new tracks spotify misses. might be worth a shot!
I’ve encountered similar issues with Spotify’s recommendations. One workaround I’ve found effective is to periodically clear my listening history and ‘Liked Songs.’ This seems to reset the algorithm somewhat, leading to fresher suggestions. Additionally, I’ve started exploring curated playlists from music blogs and independent playlist creators. These often feature a more eclectic mix and introduce me to artists that Spotify’s algorithm might overlook. It’s not a perfect solution, but it’s helped break the monotony of repetitive recommendations.
I’ve experienced similar issues with Spotify’s recommendations. One approach that’s worked for me is actively engaging with the platform more. I make a point to ‘like’ or ‘dislike’ songs frequently, and I’ve found this helps refine the algorithm. Additionally, I’ve started using Spotify’s ‘Radio’ feature for songs I enjoy, which often leads to discovering similar tracks I hadn’t heard before. Another tactic is to explore playlists in the ‘Browse’ section, particularly those featuring emerging artists or niche genres. These often contain fresh tracks that haven’t made it into the mainstream rotation yet. It takes more effort, but I’ve found it rewarding in terms of discovering new music.
I hear you on the Spotify frustration. What’s worked for me is diving into the ‘Fans Also Like’ section of artists I enjoy. It’s a bit of a rabbit hole, but I’ve stumbled upon some great new music that way. Another trick is to occasionally listen to genres completely outside your usual taste. It seems to jolt the algorithm and leads to more varied recommendations.
Also, don’t underestimate the power of user-created playlists. Search for niche genres or moods, and you’ll often find passionate curators who put together some killer collections. It takes a bit more effort than relying on Spotify’s auto-generated stuff, but the payoff in musical discovery has been worth it for me.
