Figma’s evolution is super exciting!
I just checked out their new brand guidelines and drawing apps. They look awesome! But I’m really hoping they’ll add some print-friendly features soon.
Here’s what I’d love to see:
- Easy bleed and margin settings
- CMYK color options
- Text columns with anchors
- Simple page numbering
Imagine if we could have all that plus Figma’s amazing components and variables! It would be like a lightweight InDesign.
And if we could copy and paste between all their apps while keeping the collaboration tools, that would be a total game-changer!
Anyone else hoping for print features in Figma? What else would you want to see?
As someone who’s been using Figma for a while, I can say it’s not quite there yet for print work. But I’ve noticed some interesting developments lately. The vector tools have gotten more precise, and the recent updates to text handling are promising. While it’s not a replacement for dedicated print software, I’ve managed to use it for simple brochure layouts by setting up artboards to match standard paper sizes and exporting high-res PDFs. It’s not ideal, but it works in a pinch. I think Figma might eventually add some basic print features to cater to designers who occasionally need to produce print materials alongside digital assets. But for now, it’s best to stick with specialized tools for serious print projects.
figma’s great for digital, but print? not so much yet. they’re prob focused on ux/ui stuff. maybe they’ll add some basic print features, but i doubt they’ll go full indesign. there’s already specialized print software out there. figma’s strength is in prototyping and collab for digital design imho
