Is fully automating Jira something you'd want?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been thinking about a tool that could make Jira work on its own. It would grab info from stuff like team chats, code repos, and meeting notes. Then it would suggest new tickets or updates.

The tool might even help with setting priorities and cleaning up the backlog. It could give a live view of what’s happening for the people who need to know.

When I talk to developers, they’re pumped about not having to use Jira themselves. But I know it’s not just devs who use it.

What do you think? Would a tool like this be helpful for you? What are the good and bad points you see? I’d love to hear from product owners, project managers, and scrum masters too.

Let me know your thoughts!

Interesting concept, but I have reservations. While automation could streamline processes, Jira often requires nuanced decision-making that AI might struggle with. There’s also the risk of over-automation leading to a lack of team engagement or missing crucial context. From my experience as a project manager, the tool’s value lies in fostering collaboration and maintaining project visibility. Perhaps a semi-automated approach, where the AI suggests actions for human approval, could strike a balance between efficiency and maintaining the human element in project management.

As someone who’s been in the trenches with Jira for years, I can see the appeal of full automation. It could definitely cut down on the mundane tasks that eat up our time. But I’ve got to say, I’m a bit skeptical about how well it would actually work in practice.

From my experience, a lot of the value in Jira comes from the discussions and decisions that happen around ticket creation and updates. An AI might miss important context or nuances that come from team dynamics and project history.

That said, I could see a hybrid approach being really useful. Maybe have the AI suggest tickets or updates, but keep a human in the loop for final decisions. This could help streamline processes without losing that crucial human insight.

One thing to consider: how would this impact team communication? Sometimes, the act of updating Jira forces teams to have important conversations. We wouldn’t want to lose that inadvertently.

Overall, it’s an intriguing idea, but I’d want to see how it handles real-world complexities before fully committing to it.

sounds cool but id be worried about accuracy. AI can mess up sometimes n we need humans to catch those mistakes. plus, some convos r confidential. how would it handle that? maybe a mix of auto n manual could work better. just my 2 cents
