Is it worthwhile to include my npm packages on my resume?

I’ve been learning to code for about a year, and I still consider myself at the beginner level.

Over this time, I managed to build an npm package as part of my exploration into programming. Considering this is one of my first technical achievements, I’m trying to figure out if adding it to my resume would be a positive signal to potential employers. Would listing a project like an npm package help demonstrate my skills and commitment to learning new technologies, or might it be viewed as too preliminary?

i’d def include it. even if its your first project, it shows u take initiative and are learning on the fly. employers appreciate real-world hands on work, even if its not perfect

Including your npm package on your resume provides an excellent opportunity to show initiative and added value in a competitive field. My own experience has shown that employers appreciate projects that reflect practical learning and adaptability. The fact that you have designed, built, and maintained an npm package clearly illustrates your ability to solve real problems and remain proactive in the constantly evolving tech space. While the project itself might be at an early stage, it evidences your desire to explore and improve, characteristics that many organizations find appealing in a candidate.

Including an npm package on your resume was instrumental for me when I was starting out. I built one early in my learning journey and listing it not only highlighted my willingness to experiment, but it also provided concrete evidence of my ability to work with real code. The experience of publishing and maintaining the package gave me practical knowledge that was appreciated by recruiters during interviews. Although it may not be a polished project, it demonstrates initiative and genuine interest in continuous improvement.

lol, i think including your npm package is a solid move. even if it’s a small proj, it shows you’re learning and experimenting. recruiters value hands on experience over polished work, so it’s defenitely worth listing.

Including your npm package on your resume is a good decision. I have personally included my early projects on my resume, and they sparked interesting discussions during interviews. It signals that you are willing to explore, experiment, and learn your way through actual coding challenges rather than waiting for a perfect project. The experience of building, publishing, and maintaining the package, regardless of its complexity, displays initiative and a proactive approach to self-improvement. Employers often value the courage to start independent projects as it demonstrates a hands-on approach to learning and problem-solving.
