Is Spotify disabling all Car Thing devices?

Hey everyone,

I’m really frustrated right now. I bought a Spotify Car Thing back in 2020 and it’s been working great until now. But I just found out that Spotify is planning to make all these devices stop working completely!

I can’t believe they’re doing this. It feels like they’re throwing away a product that many of us paid for and have been using for years. Has anyone else heard about this?

I tried to get my money back, but it’s been such a headache. The refund process is super complicated and confusing.

Does anyone know if there’s an easy way to get a refund? Or maybe a way to keep our Car Things working? I’d really appreciate any advice or info you guys have about this situation. It just seems so unfair to customers like us.

man, that sucks about car thing. i heard they’re killing it cuz it wasnt profitable enuf. try hitting up spotify support on twitter, they sometimes respond faster there. or maybe check if theres any class action lawsuits brewing? cuz this feels shady af to just brick devices ppl paid for. good luck getting ur money back bro

I feel your frustration, lucask. I’ve been using Car Thing for a while too, and the news hit me hard. From what I’ve gathered, Spotify is indeed phasing out support for Car Thing devices. It’s a shame because it was a solid product that filled a niche for many of us.

Unfortunately, I haven’t found any easy workarounds to keep the devices functioning once Spotify pulls the plug. As for refunds, I had a similar struggle. What worked for me was persistently contacting their customer support through multiple channels - email, social media, and phone. It took some time, but I eventually got through to someone who processed my refund.

My advice would be to document all your attempts to get a refund and keep pushing. It’s not ideal, but it seems to be the only way forward for now. It’s definitely a disappointment and a lesson in the risks of relying on connected devices that depend on ongoing support from companies.
