Is there a storage cap on Google Drive?

Hey folks, I’m new to e-readers and just got a Kobo Libra. I thought it’d be easy to use, but I’m hitting some snags.

I linked my Kobo to Google Drive and started adding manga from Humble Bundle. At first, I used EPUBs, but not all showed up. Someone said CBZ was better, so I converted and tried again. Still had issues.

I tried fixing it, even did a factory reset. No luck. Then I made KEPUBs with KCC, added them bit by bit, and synced. It worked! All files showed up.

I got cocky and added PDFs too. They showed up at first, but as I added more, they started vanishing. Then even some KEPUBs disappeared from the top of the list.

I’m thinking Google Drive must have some kind of limit. Anyone else run into this?

Oh, and I’m also having trouble with library books. I borrowed one on Libby using my library card, but it’s not showing up on my Kobo. Weird, since I can buy it from the Kobo store. Any ideas?

I’ve been using Kobo devices for years, and your experience sounds familiar. Google Drive doesn’t have a hard storage cap, but there are some quirks with syncing large libraries.

From what I’ve seen, Kobo’s Google Drive integration can struggle when you have too many files or a large total size. It’s not officially documented, but I’ve hit similar issues around 1000-1500 files or 2-3GB total.

For your library book problem, make sure your Kobo is linked to the same OverDrive account as your Libby app. Sometimes it takes a while for borrowed books to show up - try manually syncing your Kobo or restarting it.

If you’re still having trouble, you might want to try Calibre for managing your library instead of relying on Google Drive sync. It gives you more control and avoids these sync issues.

I’ve encountered similar issues with my Kobo. While Google Drive doesn’t have a strict cap, Kobo’s integration seems to struggle with large libraries. In my experience, the sync starts to falter around 1000-1500 files or 2-3GB total.

For library books, double-check that your Kobo and Libby are using the same OverDrive account. Sometimes, a manual sync or device restart can help.

Have you considered using Calibre instead? It’s a powerful e-book management tool that can sidestep these Google Drive sync problems. You can organize your library locally and transfer books directly to your Kobo via USB. It’s a bit more hands-on, but it gives you much more control and reliability.

yea, google drive can be fussy with kobo. i hit similar probs. try chunking ur files - add like 100 at a time n sync. for library books, check ur overdrive login on kobo matches libby. if all else fails, calibre’s a lifesaver for managing ebooks. way more reliable than cloud sync imho.
