Hey JIRA experts!
We just started using JIRA at work and I’m trying to figure something out. I want to keep track of my own tasks without bothering everyone else. Is there a way to make a private list just for me?
I’ve looked around but can’t find anything about personal to-do lists. Maybe I’m missing something obvious? It would be super helpful to have a place to jot down my own stuff without cluttering up the main boards.
Has anyone done this before? Any tips or tricks would be awesome. Thanks in advance for your help!
hey, have u tried using the ‘Tasks’ tab in JIRA? it’s kinda hidden but super useful. just click ur profile pic in the top right, then ‘Tasks’. u can add personal stuff there without messin with project boards. it’s not fancy but gets the job done for quick personal todos!
I’ve been using JIRA for years, and I’ve found a neat workaround for personal task management. Create a custom issue type called ‘Personal Task’ in your main project. Then, set up a saved filter that only shows issues of this type assigned to you. This way, you can add personal tasks without creating a separate project or cluttering the main board.
To make it even more discreet, use a unique label like ‘personal_todo’ for these tasks. You can quickly access your list by bookmarking the filter URL. The beauty of this method is that you’re using existing JIRA features without any extra setup or permissions needed.
Just remember to set the default visibility of your personal tasks to private when creating them. This approach has worked wonders for me in keeping my personal and team tasks organized within the same JIRA instance.
Absolutely, you can set up a personal to-do list in JIRA. One effective method is to create a private project visible only to you. Navigate to ‘Projects’ > ‘Create project’ and select ‘Task management’. Name it something like ‘Personal Tasks’ and set the visibility to private.
Within this project, you can create issues for your tasks and organize them using boards or filters. This approach keeps your personal items separate from team projects while leveraging JIRA’s powerful features.
Another option is using the ‘Personal Tasks’ gadget on your JIRA dashboard. It’s less comprehensive but allows quick task management without creating a separate project.
Remember, these methods won’t sync with team workflows, but they’re excellent for personal task tracking within the JIRA environment.
