Hey folks, I’m wondering if any of you have experience with Shopify Plus. Our online store is doing pretty well, with monthly sales around $1.5-2 million and about 10k orders. We mainly do quick flash sales where stuff sells out fast.
I’ve been looking at Shopify Plus, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the extra cost. The $2,300 monthly fee is steep, and I’m a bit confused about the fee structure.
Does anyone know how the variable fee works? Is it on all transactions or just those over a certain amount? I’m trying to figure out if the savings on transaction fees make up for the higher monthly cost.
To be honest, I’m not sure we even need all the fancy features Plus offers. We’re already selling well without them.
Also, given our sales volume, do you think we could negotiate better credit card processing rates?
Any insights or experiences would be super helpful. Thanks!
I’ve been in your shoes, josephk. We upgraded to Shopify Plus about 18 months ago, and honestly, it’s been a bit of a mixed bag for us.
The variable fee structure is indeed confusing. It kicks in after $800k in sales per month, which sounds like it could apply to you. We found that it did save us some money on transaction fees, but not as much as we’d hoped.
One thing to consider is the API rate limits. If you’re doing a lot of flash sales, the higher limits on Plus could be beneficial. We’ve found them helpful for managing inventory during high-traffic periods.
That said, if you’re already doing well without the extra features, it might not be worth the steep monthly fee. We’ve found some of the advanced features useful, but many go unused.
As for credit card rates, absolutely negotiate. With your volume, you should be able to get better rates, even without Plus.
My advice? Really evaluate if you need the extra features before making the jump. It’s a significant investment.
yo josephk, shopify plus might be overkill for ya. the extra features sound cool but if ur not gonna use em, why pay? variable fee kicks in after $800k monthly sales. ur doin well already, so maybe stick to regular shopify? def negotiate those credit card rates tho, u got the volume to bargain!
I’ve been with Shopify Plus for a couple of years now, and it’s been a mixed bag. The variable fee kicks in after $800k in sales, which can eat into profits. For your sales volume, it might not be worth it unless you need specific features.
We found the biggest advantages were in customization and API access. If you’re not planning major tweaks or integrations, regular Shopify might suffice. As for credit card rates, absolutely negotiate. With your volume, you should be able to secure better terms.
Ultimately, it comes down to your growth strategy. If you’re aiming for rapid expansion or need advanced features, Plus could be beneficial. Otherwise, invest that extra cash elsewhere in your business.
hey josephk, maybe shopify plus ain’t the best if u’re already rockin. fee triggers after $800k. unless u need extra bells, stick wit regular. credit card rates? bet, they could be improved. just my take!
