Hey everyone! I just heard a rumor that GitHub Copilot might be free in VS Code now. Is this true? I’ve been wanting to try it out but wasn’t sure about the pricing. Can anyone confirm if they’re using it for free in Visual Studio Code? If so, how do I set it up? I’m really excited about the possibility of using AI to help with my coding. Has anyone had good experiences with it? Thanks for any info you can share!
nah, copilot ain’t free in vs code. u gotta pay, even tho free trial is offered. ive been using it and its decent, but not free.
I’m afraid the rumor about GitHub Copilot being free in VS Code isn’t accurate. As of now, it’s still a paid service after the trial period. I’ve been using it for a few months, and while it’s quite helpful for coding tasks, especially repetitive ones, it does come with a subscription fee. You can sign up for a free trial to test it out, but you’ll need to subscribe if you want to continue using it long-term. The setup process is straightforward - just install the Copilot extension in VS Code and follow the prompts to link your GitHub account. Despite the cost, I find it’s worth it for the productivity boost it provides.
