Hey everyone, I’m new to WordPress and I’m having a tough time. I’ve been building websites for a company using it, and it’s driving me crazy. The menu doesn’t update properly, pages don’t save, and themes keep disappearing. I even lost a whole page I was working on when it crashed!
I’m used to working with JavaScript and React, so maybe I’m just not getting it. But it seems so unreliable. One site works fine, then the same thing breaks on another.
Does anyone else find WordPress this frustrating? Are there any tricks to make it easier to work with? I’m thinking about quitting my job over this because it’s that bad. Any advice would be really appreciated!
WordPress certainly has its challenges, but it’s not inherently frustrating once you understand its quirks. From my experience, many issues stem from plugin conflicts or outdated themes. I’d recommend starting with a clean installation and gradually adding functionality. Invest time in learning WordPress hooks and the template hierarchy - it’ll pay off in the long run. For reliability, consider using a managed WordPress host. They often provide better performance and support. Don’t give up just yet; with practice, you’ll likely find WordPress quite powerful and flexible for many projects.
I’ve been in your shoes, and I can relate to the frustration. WordPress has a steep learning curve, especially coming from a React background. One thing that really helped me was setting up a local development environment using tools like Local by Flywheel. This allowed me to experiment without the fear of breaking live sites.
I also discovered that using well-maintained, popular themes and plugins significantly reduces unexpected issues. For custom functionalities, learning to create my own plugins turned out to be a game-changer. It may take some time, but once you grasp WordPress’s core concepts and best practices, managing it becomes much easier.
Hang in there; the effort you put in now will pay off with more opportunities in the long run.
man, wordpress can be a real pain sometimes. i feel ya. ive been using it for years and still run into weird issues. my advice? use a staging site to test changes, keep backups, and dont go crazy with plugins. also, check ur hosting - cheap hosts can cause lots of headaches. stick with it, itll get easier!
