Is Zapier becoming more complex for long-time users?

I’ve been using Zapier for a while now but I’m struggling to create a new zap. It seems like everything has changed and I’m feeling lost. Has anyone else noticed this?

I want to set up a daily check on a few news sites for specific topics. If found, I’d like to get the results in an email or Google Doc. Some sites don’t have RSS feeds which makes it tricky.

I’ve got a Scraptio subscription too but I’m not sure how to use it. Do I really need to dig into HTML and CSS to make this work? It feels unnecessarily complicated.

I’ve seen other posts about this but they all suggest hiring an expert. Isn’t there an easier way? Any tips or advice would be much appreciated!

I’ve been in your shoes, CreatingStone. Zapier’s evolution can be a bit overwhelming. For your news monitoring setup, I’d recommend giving IFTTT a shot. It’s generally more user-friendly for tasks like this. You can use their RSS trigger for sites with feeds, and their webpage monitor for those without. Combine that with a simple email or Google Docs action, and you’re set.

As for Scraptio, while it’s powerful, it might be overkill for what you need. Unless you’re dealing with really complex websites, IFTTT or even a basic Zapier setup should suffice. Don’t let the complexity deter you - start simple and build from there. Remember, automation is supposed to make life easier, not more complicated!

hey CreatingStone, i feel ya. zapier’s gotten more complicated lately. for ur news site check, try using webhooks or the RSS by Zapier app for sites without feeds. u can combine these with filters to get specific topics. no need for HTML/CSS unless u want super custom stuff. hope this helps!

I understand your frustration with Zapier’s increasing complexity. For your news monitoring task, consider using a combination of tools. Zapier’s web scraper or Scraptio can extract data from sites without RSS feeds. Then, set up a Zap to process this data and send it to your preferred destination. While it may require some initial setup, once configured, it should run smoothly. If you’re still stuck, Zapier’s community forums are a great resource for step-by-step guidance without hiring an expert. Don’t hesitate to reach out there for specific troubleshooting.
