Is Zapier poised to lead the MCP market?

I’ve been thinking about Zapier’s potential in the MCP (Multi-Cloud Platform) space. They’ve been working on API integrations for years now. Wouldn’t this give them a big advantage?

Sure, they might need to train their team on AI tools. But their whole company is built around connecting different services. It seems like a natural fit.

What do you guys think? Could Zapier become a major player in MCPs? Or am I missing something here?

I’ve been using Zapier for years in my business, and while it’s great for automating workflows, I’m not convinced they’re ready to dominate the MCP market. Their strength is in simple integrations, but MCPs require much more complex orchestration and management across multiple cloud environments.

From what I’ve seen, Zapier lacks the deep infrastructure expertise and enterprise-grade security features that major cloud providers offer. They’d need to invest heavily in these areas to compete.

That said, Zapier’s user-friendly approach could be an asset if they decide to enter the MCP space. They might carve out a niche for small to medium businesses looking for an easier way to manage multi-cloud setups. But for large enterprises with complex needs, I think they’d struggle to match the capabilities of established players like IBM or VMware.

It’s an interesting idea, but I think Zapier has a long way to go before they could be considered a leader in MCPs.

i dunno, man. zapier’s good at connecting stuff, but MCPs are a whole other ballgame. they’d need to step up their game big time. security, compliance, all that heavy stuff. plus, the big cloud players already got a head start. maybe zapier could do somethin for smaller companies, but leading the market? that’s a stretch IMO.
