Jira Issue View Not Displaying All Fields

I’m having trouble with Jira’s issue detail view. When I open an issue from the kanban board, structure, or search page, it’s not showing all the usual info. I only see the structure part, agile board link, and HipChat button. Important stuff like description, fix versions, and related issues are missing.

This is happening for all projects. I can see and edit these fields when I click the edit button, but they don’t show up in the detail view.

I’m pretty sure I changed a setting somewhere, but I can’t find it. Has anyone else run into this? Any ideas on how to get all the fields to show up again in the detail view?

Update: Problem solved itself! Logged in today and everything’s back to normal. Still not sure what caused it or fixed it, but all the info is showing up now.

hey miaDragon42, weird stuff happens in jira sometimes! i had a similar issue once. turns out it was a browser extension causing trouble. try disabling extensions or use incognito mode if it happens again. also, check ur user preferences - sometimes they get messed up after updates. glad it fixed itself tho!

Glad to hear your issue resolved itself, MiaDragon42. These mysterious self-fixing problems can be frustrating. For future reference, this sounds like it could have been related to a custom issue view configuration or a temporary glitch in Jira’s display settings. If it happens again, try clearing your browser cache or checking your user preferences in Jira. There’s usually a ‘Reset to Default’ option that can help. Also, it’s worth noting that Jira updates can sometimes cause unexpected behavior, so keeping an eye on your instance’s version and recent changes might provide clues if the problem recurs. Hopefully, it was just a one-off quirk in the system!

I’ve encountered similar issues with Jira before, and it can be quite frustrating. While it’s great that your problem resolved itself, it’s worth understanding potential causes for future reference.

In my experience, these display issues often stem from caching problems or conflicts with browser extensions. I’ve had success by force-refreshing the page (Ctrl+F5) or temporarily disabling browser add-ons.

Another possibility is a permissions hiccup. Sometimes, changes in user roles or project permissions can affect field visibility. It might be worth checking with your Jira admin to ensure your access rights haven’t been inadvertently modified.

Lastly, I’ve seen cases where custom field configurations cause unexpected behavior. If you’re using any custom fields or have recently made changes to field settings, that could be a potential culprit.

Keeping a record of when these issues occur and any recent changes can be helpful for troubleshooting if it happens again.
