Keep Discord bot running 24/7 without manual startup

I built a music bot for my Discord server and I’m having trouble keeping it running continuously. Right now I need to start it up myself every time, and whenever I shut down my PC the bot goes offline too. I want the bot to run all the time without me having to be there to restart it. What are some ways to host a Discord bot so it stays active even when my personal computer is turned off? I’ve heard about cloud hosting but I’m not sure which options work best for Discord bots or how to set them up properly.

Running bots 24/7 used to be such a headache until I automated everything. No more babysitting cloud servers or stressing about uptime - I just set up automated workflows for my Discord bots.

Game changer: connect your bot to an automation platform that does all the heavy lifting. It’ll deploy your bot, monitor it, restart when it crashes, and scale during busy periods. All automatic.

I’ve had multiple Discord bots running like this for months without touching server configs once. Updates, health checks, everything’s handled. No more 3am wake-up calls because your bot died.

Takes minutes to set up and you’ll get better uptime than manual hosting. I use Latenode for automated bot hosting: https://latenode.com

Had this exact problem with my Discord bot about a year ago. Tried keeping my old laptop running 24/7 but it was unreliable and killed my electric bill. Ended up going with Heroku - their free tier works great for small Discord bots. You’ll need the paid plan if your bot gets heavy traffic though. Setup’s pretty easy once you figure out Git deployment. Just push your code and they handle everything else. Free tier has sleep limitations, but that’s not a big deal for most personal server bots. Been running mine for 10+ months now and it barely goes down unless I’m updating it.

replit’s super easy to use and lets u run your bot without ur pc on. railway is good too, gives free hours every month. both options are way simpler than stuff like aws, so give them a shot!

Had the same problem when I started hosting my Discord bot. Tried a bunch of different things, but ended up going with a VPS - it’s been rock solid. DigitalOcean and Linode have cheap options around $5/month. You get your own Linux server that runs 24/7 without needing your home computer on. You’ll need some basic command line skills, but they’ve got good tutorials for bot setup. Best part is you control everything and get reliable uptime as long as you pay monthly. My music bot’s been running 8+ months straight with zero downtime, and the server auto-restarts it if anything goes wrong.
