Keyboard shortcut for finding components and objects in Figma

I’m currently working on a detailed Figma project with many components and objects that are spread over several pages. Is there a fast method to find particular components or items using keyboard shortcuts?

I’ve been manually scrolling through layers, which is really time-consuming, especially when I need to locate a specific button or text element. I’ve checked the menu options, but I couldn’t find any search feature.

Has anyone discovered a quicker way to navigate to certain instances or components without searching through the entire design file? Perhaps there’s a hidden shortcut or an overlooked feature in the interface that I haven’t found yet.

Figma’s search does way more than just find layer names. You can filter by layer types using prefixes like ‘component:’, ‘instance:’, or ‘text:’ - makes finding stuff so much faster. Also check out the assets panel on the left - click any component and it’ll show you every instance in your file. Super helpful for design system audits when you need to see how components are used across pages. The outline view in layers panel is great too if you roughly know where something should be.

The component browser is super underrated. Hit Shift + I to open a searchable list of all components in your file. It’s perfect when you need to add new instances instead of just finding existing ones. I’ve worked on tons of large design systems, and consistent naming for components and layers makes searching way more effective. Also, there’s a filter icon next to the search bar in the layers panel - lets you filter by layer types without memorizing prefix syntax.

hey! you can use ctrl + f (or cmd + f on a mac) to search for layers and components. it really helps when your file gets crowded. def give it a shot!
