Local font not appearing in Figma despite being installed on system

I’m having trouble with Figma not detecting a specific font that I have installed locally on my Ubuntu machine. The weird thing is that Figma can see and use all my other installed fonts without any problems.

I’ve double-checked that my Montserrat font is properly installed on the system. I can see it in other applications like LibreOffice and GIMP. I’ve tried several troubleshooting steps including restarting Figma completely, clearing the font cache, and even rebooting my entire system.

The font shows up fine in my system font manager and works in other design software, but for some reason Figma just won’t recognize it. Has anyone else experienced this issue where Figma selectively ignores certain fonts while detecting others? I’m running the desktop version of Figma on Ubuntu 22.04.

maybe try deleting that font completely and re-downloading it, sometimes that helps. also, make sure to check all permissions on your system just in case, my buddy had a similar issue and that fixed it!

Had this exact issue with a custom font on Linux. Figma was picking up some Montserrat weights but not others. You probably have multiple versions installed or an incomplete font family - that’s what causes the selective detection. Try grabbing the complete Montserrat family from Google Fonts or Adobe Fonts. Also check both ~/.local/share/fonts and /usr/share/fonts to see where your font files are sitting. Figma can be picky about installation paths on Ubuntu.
