Hey everyone! I’m currently running my first Glitter Hearts game and need some help with dice rolling. Since this is my introduction to Powered by the Apocalypse games, I was wondering if anyone knows of a Discord bot that can handle the specific success ranges these systems use.
Basically I need something that can roll 2d6 and automatically tell me which category the result falls into:
6 or lower = failure
7-9 = partial success
10-11 = full success
12+ = critical success
I know different PBtA games might have slight variations, but this is the standard range we’re using. Has anyone found a good bot that does this automatically instead of having to calculate it manually each time?
sidekick bot is awesome for pbta games! just type !2d6 and itll show ur result plus the tier you hit automatically. no setup needed - works right off the bat. we’ve used it for masks and apocalypse world without any issues.
Same problem here when I started running Urban Shadows this year. Went with DiceParser bot after testing a bunch of others. Love how flexible it is - you can customize commands for different PBtA systems since they all have different success thresholds. The syntax is pretty easy once you learn it, like !roll 2d6 success[7,9] critical[12+] and it shows both the numbers and what they mean. Never had it crash or slow down mid-session. Only pain point is learning the commands at first, but the docs are solid.

Takes maybe ten minutes to configure, then you’re golden for sessions. Best part? You can customize the output so players see “Partial Success (8)” instead of just numbers. Keeps the story moving. Plus it saves roll history, which comes in handy when you need to check what happened earlier. Worked great when I ran Glitter Hearts last year.
