Looking for dividend tracking tools or spreadsheet templates without cost

Hey everyone! I just started getting into dividend investing and need some help with tracking. Right now I only own a few dividend paying stocks like SCHD, but I recently added ULTY and MSTY to my holdings. Since my portfolio is growing, I want to keep better track of my dividend payments and maybe see some future projections too. Does anyone know of good free tools or maybe a Google Sheets template that works well for this? I don’t want to pay for expensive software since I’m still learning. Any recommendations would be awesome!

I’ve used Google Sheets for dividend tracking for two years now. Started with basic columns - ticker, shares, quarterly dividend, payment dates. The game changer was adding a column that calculates annual dividend income per stock, then summing everything for total projected income. For projections, I track each stock’s dividend growth rate over the past few years and apply conservative estimates going forward. Start simple, then add complexity once you’re comfortable. I sync with brokerage statements monthly to update share counts and catch any dividend changes I missed. Takes about 30 minutes monthly but gives me a clear view of my income stream.

DivTracker and Simply Safe Dividends have solid free versions that’ll save you tons of time vs. spreadsheets. I ditched my spreadsheet for DivTracker because manually updating dividend dates and amounts was a pain - especially when companies change their schedules. The free tier handles basic tracking and shows upcoming payments in calendar view. For ETFs like SCHD, these platforms auto-pull distribution data so you don’t have to hunt down each payment yourself. Try one before you commit to spreadsheet hell.

portfolio visualizer’s got a solid free dividend tool. just enter your tickers and you’ll see historical payouts plus basic projections. i pair it with a simple spreadsheet for anything it misses. beats building everything from scratch.
