I’ve been using an alternative video player that used to block advertisements on Twitch really well. The way it worked was by switching to lower quality during ad breaks so you could keep watching without interruption. But recently it stopped working properly and the ads are coming through again. I’m getting really frustrated with all these interruptions while trying to watch my favorite streamers. Does anyone know of a good ad blocking method that actually works for Twitch right now? I’ve tried a few browser extensions but they don’t seem to be very effective. Would appreciate any recommendations from people who have found something that works reliably.
I understand your frustrations; I’ve encountered similar issues. One method I’ve found effective is using uBlock Origin along with Twitch-specific filters, which can significantly reduce ad occurrences, although it’s not flawless. Additionally, TTV LOL PRO has been reliable for me as it automatically switches streams during ads. Make sure to keep the extension updated, as Twitch frequently modifies their ad delivery method. If extensions haven’t worked for you, consider using a VPN that connects through regions with less ad exposure, but be cautious of potential impacts on stream quality.
Twitch’s war against ad blockers has ramped up big time lately. Same issue here - my usual setup died about a month ago. I’ve had luck with Firefox + Tampermonkey running the “Twitch Ad Block” userscript. The community updates it constantly to stay ahead of Twitch’s countermeasures. Just make sure you grab the latest version since old ones are basically worthless. I also clear Twitch’s cache and cookies regularly - seems to mess with their ad tracking. Fair warning though, nothing lasts long since Twitch’s actively trying to kill these workarounds. You’ll be updating constantly.
twitch is tough on ads now, but brave browser does help a bit. still, if you wanna avoid ads totally, maybe consider subbing to your fav streamers for an ad-free ride!
