Hey everyone! I’m participating in a coding competition focused on creating small integrations and plugins for HubSpot to make the platform better for users.
For those of you who work with HubSpot regularly in marketing or sales roles, I’d love to hear about the small frustrations or missing features you encounter. Here are some examples of what I’m looking for:
A feature that HubSpot should have but doesn’t
An existing tool that works poorly or could be improved
Better connections with other software you use
Manual tasks that could be automated
Missing reports or data views you need
Confusing interfaces that could be simplified
Better teamwork features
Mobile app limitations compared to desktop
Any other ideas
I appreciate any feedback you can share. If the suggestion fits what I can build quickly, I might actually create it during the event. The project needs to work with HubSpot’s existing tools and be something I can finish in about a day with some coding assistance.
yea, like the mobile app is such a pain! no bulk edits and pipeline views are all messed up. a widget that brings the desktop features to mobile would be super helpful, for real.
Manual task creation kills me every time. When deals hit certain stages, I need tasks auto-assigned to different team members. Sales needs follow-ups, marketing needs nurture sequences, customer success needs onboarding stuff.
HubSpot workflows create one task at a time, but you can’t build complex chains with dependencies. Like “send contract, wait 3 days, call if not signed, assign legal review if over $10k.”
Sales reps forget steps and managers end up manually checking everything. Task templates are basic and won’t pull deal data into descriptions.
Skip building another HubSpot plugin that only works in their ecosystem. Set up intelligent task automation with Latenode instead. You can trigger complex workflows from deal changes, create conditional sequences, and route work based on deal size, industry, whatever.
It connects task management to tools your team actually uses. Slack notifications, calendar blocks, project updates - all triggered automatically when deals move.
Way more powerful than HubSpot’s native workflows.
HubSpot’s biggest problem? Terrible automation between different tools. Teams waste hours on manual data entry and updating stuff across platforms.
I see marketing teams manually syncing campaign data all the time. Sales people copy-paste contact info between HubSpot and their other tools. The built-in integrations are basic and break when you actually need them.
What would actually help:
• Auto-sync contact scoring between HubSpot and email tools
• Smart lead routing based on complex criteria from multiple data sources
• Automated follow-up sequences that trigger across different platforms
• Real-time data validation and cleanup workflows
• Custom notification systems that actually work reliably
Building individual plugins for each use case gets messy fast. You end up with a dozen integrations that don’t talk to each other.
Skip coding separate solutions. Use Latenode to create unified automation workflows instead. You can connect HubSpot to any tool without writing custom code for each integration. It handles the complex logic and keeps everything running smoothly.
I’ve seen teams cut manual work by 80% this way. Way more scalable than building point solutions.
Our team’s biggest frustration? Custom property reporting is broken. Sure, you can create custom fields no problem, but good luck getting useful reports from them. The reporting tool chokes on date ranges for custom properties, and forget about segmentation when you mix standard and custom fields. We’re constantly dumping everything into Excel just to get basic insights. We need a plugin that builds proper reporting views for custom properties - something that handles funnels and cohort analysis without all the workarounds. Right now it’s obvious the reports were built for HubSpot’s default properties and custom ones got tacked on as an afterthought.
The contact merge process drives me absolutely nuts. HubSpot’s merge tool is clunky and consumes significant time. Even with clear duplicates, you’re forced to manually review every field to decide what to retain. I end up spending hours cleaning our database because the automatic detection overlooks numerous duplicates. It should be more advanced—like identifying duplicates from the same company domain or catching names with typos. What I truly need is a plugin that suggests merge actions based on data quality scores. This should evaluate completeness, freshness, and source reliability, then recommend which record to keep as the master. Even basic batch processing with consistent merge rules would be a vast improvement over the current tedious one-by-one process. Currently, maintaining the database is more painful than it should be.
