Background on my situation
I previously worked with Jira Server and had great success using the Subversion Integration addon to connect my SVN repositories. Now I’m planning to migrate from tools like Unfuddle and Monday.com to Jira Cloud, but I discovered that the old Subversion Integration addon is no longer available.
Current challenges I’m facing
It’s really surprising that there aren’t many solid SVN connectors available for Jira Cloud. I did come across something called “Svn Gateway” during my research, but I’m worried about investing time in setting it up only to have it discontinued later. The lack of options makes me nervous about making the switch to Jira.
What I’m looking for
I need recommendations for a dependable SVN plugin that works with Jira Cloud and offers similar functionality to what I had before. Most of the information I find online seems outdated (some articles are over a decade old), so I’m hoping someone has recent experience with this.
Has anyone found a trustworthy SVN integration solution for Jira Cloud that they feel confident will stick around long-term?
Had the same problem 18 months ago when we moved to Jira Cloud. You’re right - SVN integration options are pretty terrible, and most look like they’ve been abandoned. I tried a bunch of direct plugins but ended up going a different route. We set up Jenkins as middleware to watch our SVN repo and push commit info to Jira through API calls. Way more stable than any plugin we tested. Took about a week to configure, but now it automatically processes commit messages and updates issue status based on keywords. Not as smooth as the old Server addons, but we control the whole integration and it handles our workflow perfectly.
You’re right - SVN options for Jira Cloud are pretty much dead. Everything’s moved to Git, so nobody’s maintaining SVN connectors anymore. I hit this exact problem two years ago during our migration. Ended up building a custom webhook that pushes commit info from our SVN server straight to Jira through their REST API. Took some dev work upfront, but it’s been rock solid and we control everything. Basically set up post-commit hooks in SVN to grab issue keys from commit messages and update the Jira tickets with commit details. Skips third-party addons completely and you’re not dependent on anyone else maintaining it.
i totally feel u! svn can b kind of a pain esp with jira cloud. try looking into git, it’s got way more support and might save u headaches in the future. the switch is a bit of work but trust me, it’s gonna pay off!
