After using Spotify Premium for almost 10 years, I decided to make the jump to Apple Music about a month ago. I was getting frustrated waiting for Spotify to finally launch their high-quality audio option.
What I like:
- Audio quality: The lossless audio support and Dolby Atmos really make a difference. When I use my AirPods Pro 2, songs with Dolby Atmos feel way more immersive. The music definitely sounds crisper than what I got with Spotify.
- Editorial playlists: Spotify’s curated lists never did it for me, but Apple Music has some editorial playlists that I keep going back to.
- Cost: Since I was already paying for Apple Arcade, iCloud+ and Apple TV+ separately, I switched to Apple One and ended up saving some money.
- Interface: The lyrics display is great and I love the karaoke feature.
What could be better:
- No remote control feature: This is Apple Music’s biggest weakness for me. I used to control Spotify from different devices all the time and never realized how much I’d miss this until it was gone.
- Missing social elements: I really miss making Blend playlists with my friends - they updated every day and helped me find new music through what my friends were playing. Also can’t link Apple Music to Discord which makes sharing music harder.
Overall I’m satisfied with switching and plan to keep using Apple Music for the foreseeable future.
