New Feature: Add Animated Images from Giphy to Your Replies - Keep It Respectful!

Try the New Animated Image Feature

We just added a cool new way to express yourself in replies! You can now add animated images from Giphy directly in your responses.

How to use it:

  • Reply to any post
  • Look for the animated image button on the right side of the comment box
  • Search for the perfect animation that matches your mood

Important reminder: Our community guidelines still apply to animated images. Keep things friendly and respectful. Don’t use animations to mock or be mean to other users. Let’s maintain the positive atmosphere we all enjoy here!

Nice feature! We rolled out something similar at work - uptake was way higher than expected. People went from barely using reactions to dropping GIFs constantly.

One thing we learned the hard way: GIFs eat data like crazy, especially on mobile. Compress them or use WebP when possible. Also consider lazy loading so pages don’t freeze when someone posts five animations in a row.

For uploading your own GIFs to Giphy first, here’s a solid walkthrough:

Moderation’s tricky too. We ended up doing frame-by-frame scanning because people got creative hiding stuff in the middle of loops. But honestly, the engagement boost usually makes the extra work worth it.

This’ll be a game changer for reactions. I’ve wanted something like this forever - typing responses takes way too long sometimes. Just hope the search works better than Discord’s. That one’s hit or miss when you’re hunting for the right vibe.

Perfect timing! I’ve been working on something similar. Built an automation that watches our team chat for keywords and drops relevant Giphy animations automatically.

Here’s where it gets cool - you don’t have to search manually anymore. My setup reads messages, analyzes the tone, hits Giphy’s API for matching responses, and posts them on its own. Team loves it and it’s way faster than hunting for the right GIF every time.

You could build the same thing with Latenode to auto-suggest or post animated images based on what people are talking about. Beats manual searching hands down.

Finally tested this out - integration’s smooth. Button placement works well, not intrusive but easy to find. Search pulls up relevant results fast, no lag. I love that it’s tied to Giphy instead of direct uploads. Saves server space and bandwidth headaches other platforms deal with. Their content filters are already set up, so way less moderation work. I’ve been using animated responses for a week and it definitely changes how conversations flow. People are more engaged, discussions feel less stiff. No abuse issues yet, but it’s still early. Smart move putting that community guidelines reminder upfront - better than dealing with problems after they happen.

This sounds awesome, but I’m wondering about moderation. Static images are easy to review, but animated GIFs loop and might have subtle inappropriate stuff that’s harder to spot. Are you planning any automated filtering for the animations? Also curious about size limits since GIFs can be huge compared to regular images. Don’t want the forum crawling because someone drops a massive high-res animation. But yeah, this’ll definitely make conversations more fun and engaging.
