Notion keeps adding features but the basic editing experience gets worse

Does anyone else feel frustrated with Notion lately? I’ve been using it for years because the core editing was so smooth. You could drag blocks around, use slash commands, create toggles - everything just worked. But now every time I open it there’s some new feature I don’t need. AI suggestions pop up when I’m trying to write. There’s a calendar widget I never asked for. Mail integration that I’ll never use because I have email apps already. Meanwhile the basic stuff that made me love Notion is getting buggy. When I try to change a bullet point to a heading, the cursor jumps around. Selecting multiple blocks is unreliable - especially if there’s a table involved. The page loads slowly if you have a lot of content. The worst part is all these page properties at the top that I can’t hide in shared workspaces. They take up so much screen space and I don’t use them. I just want to write notes and organize my thoughts without fighting the interface. Is that too much to ask? They should fix the editor performance before adding more features nobody requested. What bugs you most about the current version? For me it’s the inconsistent block selection - drives me crazy when I’m trying to reorganize content.

Feature bloat’s everywhere now. Companies just keep piling on features instead of fixing what they’ve got.

Hit the same wall with Notion months ago. UI changes and lag killed my workflow. Automation saved me - I stopped fighting their interface.

Barely touch Notion’s editor anymore. Automated workflows handle content organization. Need to add notes or reorganize? Background processes do it. No cursor jumping or weird block selection.

Keep your workspace, automate the annoying stuff. Content formats itself, pages auto-organize, skip the buggy interactions.

Latenode nails this workflow automation. Automate content creation, page organization, database updates - skip Notion’s clunky editor entirely. Way better than wrestling with their interface daily.

The performance issues drive me crazy. I run several team workspaces and Notion today vs two years ago? Complete night and day. Pages that loaded instantly now crawl - especially anything with databases or embeds. Here’s the kicker: they keep adding collaboration features while the app gets too laggy to actually collaborate on. Mobile’s gotten worse too. Syncing between devices is a mess and sometimes changes don’t show up for hours. What really bugs me is they’d rather build flashy new integrations than fix basic stability. Database filtering breaks constantly, and the web clipper mangles formatting randomly. Feels like they’re trying to beat every productivity app out there instead of nailing what they used to do well.

I switched to using Notion mostly offline because I got sick of constant updates breaking my workflow. The web version became useless for real work - too distracting and slow. The desktop app’s better but way more bloated than before. What bothers me most is how they changed core editing without consulting users. Headings and text blocks convert completely differently now from the original system. I keep my main content in simpler tools and only use Notion for final organization. Database features are solid when they actually work, but writing feels like they’re designing for pretty screenshots instead of daily use. Ironic since they built their reputation as a clean alternative to cluttered tools, then became exactly what we were escaping.

the slash commands killed it for me. used to be instant, now there’s this annoying delay and half the time they don’t work. tried /todo yesterday - waited 3 seconds for nothing, then when it finally loaded, half the options were gone. my muscle memory’s still there but notion keeps breaking how things respond. i’m fighting the app instead of just using it.
