Parent activated content filter on family Spotify account affecting all users

I’m 22 and have just moved to another state away from my family. My mom turned on the explicit content filter on our family Spotify plan, which means I can’t listen to my favorite artists like Kendrick Lamar anymore. It’s a bit annoying since I’m an adult and wanted to enjoy my music. Is there any way to change these settings for just my account, or do I need to think about getting my own subscription to avoid these restrictions?

As frustrating as it is, the explicit content filter on a family plan is indeed managed by the plan’s owner, meaning individual users can’t change these settings themselves. I faced a similar issue when I lived away from home. Ultimately, I found that the best solution is to switch to an individual Spotify Premium account. It provides the freedom to listen to any content without restrictions, albeit at a higher cost than sharing a family plan. If you think your mom might be open to it, discussing the need for more flexibility might also help.
