PlayerScope repo vanished from GitHub - what happened?

Hey everyone,

I’m freaking out a bit here. I was working on this cool project called PlayerScope and had it all set up on GitHub. But when I logged in today, the whole repo was gone! Poof, just like that.

Has anyone ever dealt with something like this before? I’m not sure if it’s a glitch or if GitHub actually deleted it for some reason. I didn’t get any warnings or emails about it.

Does GitHub ever delete repos without telling you? Is there any way to get it back? I’m really hoping I didn’t lose all my hard work.

Any advice would be super helpful. Thanks!

I’ve experienced something similar before, and it’s definitely alarming. First, check if you might have accidentally moved the repo to a different account or organization. It’s an easy mistake to make.

If that’s not it, review your GitHub account’s security settings and recent activity. Sometimes, compromised accounts can lead to unexpected changes. Also, double-check your email, including spam folders, for any notifications from GitHub.

As a precaution, I always keep local backups of my important repos. If you have a recent clone on your machine, you haven’t lost everything. You can recreate the repo and push your local version back up.

If all else fails, contact GitHub support immediately. They can often recover ‘deleted’ repos, especially if it’s due to a system error. Good luck – I hope you get it sorted out soon.

I feel your pain, mate. I’ve been there and it’s gut-wrenching. Here’s what I’d suggest:

First off, take a deep breath. It’s probably not as bad as it seems. Check your account settings and make sure you’re logged into the right account. I once panicked only to realize I was on my work account instead of personal.

If that’s not it, dig through your emails, including spam. GitHub usually sends notices before nuking repos. Also, if you’ve got 2FA set up, check if there were any suspicious login attempts.

One thing that’s saved my bacon before - local backups. If you’ve got a recent clone on your machine, you’re golden. You can recreate the repo and push it back up.

Worst case, hit up GitHub support. They’ve got access to all the logs and can often recover ‘deleted’ repos, especially if it was a glitch on their end.

Hang in there, mate. It’s usually fixable one way or another.

I’ve actually been through a similar situation, and it can be quite unnerving. First, double-check your GitHub username and make sure you’re logged into the correct account. Sometimes we accidentally create repos under different accounts or organizations without realizing it.

If that’s not the issue, check your email thoroughly, including spam folders. GitHub typically sends notifications before taking any drastic actions. Also, review your recent account activity for any suspicious logins or changes.

If you’re using GitHub for work or school, it’s worth checking with your IT department. They might have made changes to organizational repos without notifying individual contributors.

As a last resort, contact GitHub support directly. They have access to logs and can potentially recover your repo if it was unintentionally deleted or if there was a system error. Don’t lose hope – there’s often a logical explanation for these situations.

oh man, that sucks! GitHub usually doesn’t just delete repos outta nowhere. Maybe check ur account settings? Sometimes repos can get hidden or archived by accident. if not, hit up GitHub support asap - they might be able to restore it if it’s a glitch. fingers crossed for u!

damn, that’s rough buddy. have u tried checkin ur account settings? sometimes repos get accidentally archived or hidden. if not, hit up github support ASAP - they might be able to recover it if it’s a glitch. good luck man, hope u get it sorted!
