I’m having trouble with my company letterhead in Google Docs. We put our logo in the header, but when we save the doc as a PDF, the image looks terrible. It’s all pixelated and unprofessional.
I’ve tried different file types and sizes for the logo, but nothing seems to work. The only thing that kinda helps is using a really big image file, but that makes the PDF huge.
Does anyone know why Google Docs messes up images in PDFs like this? Is it just a problem with stuff in the header? Any tips on how to fix this without using enormous files would be great. Thanks!
I’ve dealt with this issue before, and it can be frustrating. One solution that worked for me was to use a vector-based image format like SVG for the logo. SVGs maintain their quality regardless of size, so they look crisp even when converted to PDF.
If you can’t use SVG, try inserting the logo into the main document body instead of the header. For some reason, Google Docs seems to handle images in the main content better than those in headers or footers when converting to PDF.
Another trick is to export your Google Doc as a web page (HTML) first, then use a high-quality PDF printer or converter to create the final PDF. This two-step process often preserves image quality better than direct PDF export from Google Docs.
Lastly, check your Google Docs print settings. Make sure you’re using the highest quality option available when creating the PDF. Sometimes, the default settings prioritize file size over image quality.
I’ve encountered this issue as well. One effective workaround is to create your letterhead in a separate graphics program like Illustrator or even PowerPoint, then export it as a high-resolution PNG. Insert this entire letterhead image into your Google Doc as a full-page background. This method typically preserves quality better when converting to PDF.
Another option is to use Google Slides instead of Docs for your letterhead documents. Slides tends to handle image quality better during PDF conversion. You can set up a single-slide template with your logo and other letterhead elements, then add text boxes for your content.
If you must stick with Docs, try reducing the physical dimensions of your logo while keeping the same pixel count. This increases the effective DPI, often improving how it renders in the final PDF.
hey, i’ve dealt with this too. try usin a highres png instead of jpg. sometimes that fixes the problem. if nothin works, crete the entire letterhead as one image n insert it. hope it helps!
