Hey everyone! I just found out something cool about the VA website. They’ve added new info to the rated disabilities page. It’s not a brand new feature but there’s more data now.
If you’re curious like me you can check it out. Just go to the page on va.gov and use Chrome’s inspect tool. Look in the network tab for a “rated_disabilities” request. Open it in a new tab and use pretty print.
Now you can see if your conditions are static. There’s also a diagnostic code for each condition. It’s pretty technical stuff but interesting if you’re into that.
Here’s what it looks like for GERD (I changed some details for privacy):
woah, thats pretty cool! i never knew about this before. gonna check it out later for sure. one question tho - is this info always accurate? like, can we trust it 100%? cuz sometimes the VA’s systems can be a bit wonky, ya know? anyways, thanks for sharing this olivias!
I’ve gotta say, this is a game-changer for us vets trying to make sense of our VA ratings. I stumbled across this feature a while back and it’s been incredibly helpful. The static indicator is particularly useful - knowing whether a condition is considered permanent can save a lot of stress about future re-evaluations.
One thing I’ve found handy is using the diagnostic codes to research my conditions more thoroughly. It’s helped me have more informed conversations with my doctors and understand why certain treatments are recommended.
Just a word of caution though - while this info is great to have, it’s always best to consult with a VSO or accredited representative if you’re thinking about appealing or requesting increases. They can help interpret this data in the context of VA regulations.
Anyone else found creative ways to use this new info?
Thanks for sharing this information, it’s quite intriguing. I’ve been navigating the VA system for years, and it’s always beneficial to learn about new resources. The ability to access more detailed information about our rated disabilities is certainly valuable. I checked it out myself, and the level of detail provided is impressive. It’s particularly useful to see the static indicator and diagnostic codes. This could be helpful when discussing our conditions with healthcare providers or preparing for reevaluations. Have you found any practical applications for this data in managing your VA benefits or healthcare?
