I’ve been thinking about how lucky we are to use Figma these days. Remember when we had to deal with software that crashed all the time? Or when we had to make everything by hand without any smart features?
Figma is like a dream come true. It works smoothly and has so many cool things:
- You can work with others in real time
- There’s a comment system
- Auto layout saves so much time
- You can find plugins for pretty much anything
- They even added AI stuff recently
Sure it’s not perfect but it’s way better than what we had before. Back in 2010 we had to make every single button pixel by pixel. Can you imagine?
If something bugs you just hit undo and try again. We should be thankful for how far we’ve come.
What do you think? Have you used older design tools? How do they compare to Figma in your experience?
omg yes! i used to work with photoshop and it was a nightmare. figma is so much better, especially for collaboration. remembr those endless email chains with design revisions? now we can just hop on a call and fix things together. game changer!
Figma has indeed revolutionized the design workflow. Having used older tools like Illustrator and Sketch, I can attest to the significant improvements. The cloud-based nature of Figma eliminates version control issues, which were a constant headache before. Its component system and constraints are far more intuitive and powerful than what was available in legacy software. The ability to create responsive designs effortlessly is a massive time-saver. While older tools had their strengths, Figma’s all-in-one approach and continuous updates make it hard to imagine going back. It’s not just about features; it’s about how Figma has reshaped the entire design process for the better.
Absolutely agree with the sentiment here. I’ve been in the design game for over a decade, and the shift to Figma has been nothing short of transformative. Remember the days of Fireworks? Talk about a blast from the past. What really stands out for me is how Figma has streamlined the handoff process to developers. No more exporting endless assets or creating redline docs. Now, devs can inspect designs directly, grab CSS, and even see responsive behavior all in one place. It’s cut down on so many back-and-forths and misunderstandings.
Another game-changer? The way Figma handles typography and color management. Setting up a cohesive design system used to be a nightmare across multiple files and software. Now, it’s all centralized and updates propagate instantly. Sure, there’s still a learning curve, especially for those coming from older tools, but the payoff in efficiency is massive. Figma’s not perfect - performance can still be an issue with complex files - but compared to the crashes and file corruptions of yesteryear? It’s a walk in the park.
man, i feel u. used to rock illustrator back in the day, and it was such a pain. figma’s like a breath of fresh air. no more file versioning nightmares or compatibility issues. the real-time collab is sick, saves so much time. plus, the auto-layout feature? chefs kiss total gamechanger for responsive design. glad we’ve come so far!
