Hi everyone,
I need help finding a dependable WordPress backup tool. I want something that can save my whole site, not just bits and pieces. This includes:
- Posts and pages
- Comments
- Media files
- Theme settings
- Plugin data
- Site layout
The main things I’m after are:
- Full site backups (everything!)
- Trustworthy restore feature
- Cloud storage options (Dropbox, Google Drive)
- Both scheduled and manual backups
- Works with latest WordPress
- User-friendly
Ideally, it should work like a system image for Windows, creating an exact copy of my site.
What do you use? Any good or bad experiences to share? Thanks!
I’ve been using UpdraftPlus for a couple of years now, and it’s been a game-changer for my WordPress sites. It ticks all the boxes mentioned in the thread. The free version is quite robust, but upgrading to Premium unlocked some additional features that improve performance and flexibility.
One major advantage is the ease of scheduling backups. Weekly backups have saved me from a few mishaps during plugin updates. The integration with cloud services, especially Google Drive, is seamless, though larger sites can experience longer backup times due to server limitations. Overall, UpdraftPlus has proven reliable for my needs.
yo, ive been using duplicator and its pretty solid. does full backups, restores like a charm. got cloud options too. schedules and manual backups are there. works great with latest WP. interface is easy peasy. only thing, big sites might take a while to backup. but overall, its my go-to. give it a shot!
I’ve had great success with BackupBuddy for comprehensive WordPress backups. It’s a premium plugin, but well worth the investment for peace of mind. BackupBuddy creates full site backups including everything you mentioned - database, files, themes, and plugins.
The restore process is straightforward, and I’ve used it to migrate sites between hosts without issues. It integrates with various cloud storage options and supports both scheduled and on-demand backups.
One standout feature is the ability to create a standalone installer, which can be used to quickly set up a copy of your site elsewhere. This has been invaluable for testing major changes before implementing them on the live site.
While the interface has a slight learning curve, it’s generally user-friendly once you’re familiar with it. Just be mindful of your hosting resources, as full backups can be resource-intensive on larger sites.
