I’m getting worried about my job. People are leaving the company and everyone’s feeling down. It’s made me think about my skills. I’ve been doing Jira setup for a while but I don’t have much to show for it on my resume.
I’d love to hear what you all think about:
- What should I learn to be better at my job or stand out more?
- Should I get Atlassian certs?
- Maybe some Agile training?
- Would learning Python help?
- Is SQL worth it? Does anyone use Atlassian Analytics?
- Should I learn about APIs?
Also, any ideas on jobs I could look into? They don’t have to be Atlassian-related. I’m not big on jobs that are all about talking to people (like project manager) but feel free to suggest those too. It might help others. I don’t see many Atlassian-only jobs out there. Maybe something in cloud admin?
Thanks for any advice!
Having been in a similar situation, I’d recommend focusing on API integration and automation. These skills are highly valuable across various tech roles. Consider exploring cloud platforms like AWS or Azure, as they complement Jira knowledge well. Personally, I found learning about CI/CD pipelines incredibly useful.
As for career paths, look into roles like Technical Project Coordinator or Business Systems Analyst. These positions often require Jira expertise but also involve broader technical skills. They’re less people-focused than traditional PM roles but still offer growth opportunities.
Remember, your Jira experience is more valuable than you might think. Many companies struggle with effective tool implementation, so your expertise can be a significant asset.
hey nate, i feel ya. been there done that. python’s def worth learning, it’s super versatile. APIs are huge too, especially for automation. maybe look into devops roles? they often use jira n need techies who can code. don’t stress too much tho, ur experience is valuable. keep grinding!
I’ve been in a similar position before, and I know how unsettling it can feel when you’re uncertain about the future. Recently, I expanded my skill set by diving into automation, with Python being a major focus for me.
While Python pushed my capabilities, I also spent time learning SQL to handle data more effectively—something that was invaluable when working with analytic tools.
Exploring roles in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering opened new doors. I eventually found that supplementing technical skills with clear communication significantly improved my career prospects.
