Hello everyone! I’m on the lookout for cheaper options for audiobooks because my current service is draining my wallet. I pay a subscription every month, and once I reach the listening limit, I have to fork out more money to continue. Since most audiobooks are longer than what they offer, I often find myself paying extra, which is really frustrating. I also tried another service that works on a credit basis, but the credits are too expensive for me. Can anyone recommend some good, budget-friendly alternatives? Thanks a lot for your help!
Check your local library! Most libraries have free audiobooks through apps like Libby or OverDrive - you just need a library card. The selection’s pretty good and includes new releases, though popular titles might have a wait. I switched to this two years ago when subscription costs got crazy. Only downside is waiting for hot books, but you can put holds on multiple titles. If your local library’s collection sucks, you can often get cards from neighboring counties to expand your options.
spotify premium has audiobooks now - no extra fees if ur already a member! also check hoopla thru ur library. it’s diff from libby and might have stuff libby doesn’t. i also use libro.fm since it helps local bookstores and credits are cheaper than audible.
If subscriptions are breaking the bank, try switching to annual plans - most services give you decent discounts. Also check if your credit card offers audiobook credits or free trials. You can also time it right - subscribe when you’ve got more listening time and cancel during busy stretches. If there’s a family plan option, split it with friends or family to cut costs.
Same issue here! YouTube’s got tons of free audiobooks - mostly classics and older stuff. Quality’s hit or miss but lots are professionally done. For newer books, Scribd’s $10/month with unlimited listening (no annoying credits like Audible). I also hit up thrift stores and yard sales for used audiobook CDs, then rip them digital. Takes work but builds your library cheap. Don’t forget to check if your job or school gives you library database access - often includes audiobooks.
