I need some simple advice here. My company’s website is really outdated and needs a complete makeover. Right now we have a WordPress site but we also have HubSpot licenses. I’m thinking about starting fresh with a totally new design.
Before I hire someone to build it, I want to understand the basic differences between using HubSpot versus WordPress for our new site. What are the main benefits and drawbacks of each platform? Which one would be easier to manage after it’s done?
I’m not super technical so please explain it in simple terms. Thanks for any help you can give me.
I’d stick with WordPress if you’re doing a complete redesign anyway. WordPress beats HubSpot on flexibility - you can build whatever you want, while HubSpot’s pretty locked down customization-wise. Plus WordPress gives you better SEO control and faster loading speeds, which actually matters for rankings and user experience. Here’s the big thing though - you own everything with WordPress and can switch hosts whenever. HubSpot? You’re stuck in their system. That said, if you’re already deep into HubSpot’s marketing tools and lead gen is your main focus, those integrated analytics might be worth the trade-offs. Really comes down to what you need long-term: total design freedom or marketing that just works together seamlessly?
Since you’ve got HubSpot licenses already, you might as well use them - it’ll save you money. I was in the same boat recently and picked HubSpot because everything connects so smoothly. When someone fills out a form, it creates their contact info and kicks off follow-up emails automatically. With WordPress, you’d need a bunch of plugins to achieve the same functionality, which can be cumbersome to manage. Sure, HubSpot’s templates aren’t as flexible as WordPress, but they work fine for most businesses. Given that you’re not super technical, HubSpot is easier to handle - it manages all the updates and security issues for you. Meanwhile, with WordPress, you’re often left to monitor it yourself.
