Should I stick with multiple calendar apps or switch to using just one?

I’m currently managing both Apple Calendar and Google Calendar on my devices. My iPhone reminders automatically show up in Apple Calendar, but I also keep everything synced with Google Calendar as a backup. I’m starting to wonder if this dual setup is actually worth it or if I’m just making things more complicated than they need to be. Has anyone here made the switch to using only one calendar system? What made you decide to consolidate, and do you miss having the backup option? I’m curious about the pros and cons of simplifying my calendar management versus keeping multiple platforms active.

i was in a similar boat, but i chose to just go with google calendar. way less hassle, plus it syncs well everywhere. i kinda miss apple’s design sometimes, but i think the reliability of google makes up for it.

Multiple calendar apps? Classic over-engineering. I used to juggle three different systems at work - drove me absolutely nuts.

Forget picking Apple vs Google. Just automate the sync so you never think about it again.

I built a workflow that syncs everything in real time. Create an event anywhere, it shows up everywhere in seconds. No manual checking, no missed meetings, no duplicates.

Backup concerns? Your automation handles redundancy automatically. Set smart rules too - work events only go to work calendar, filter personal stuff from shared ones.

30 minutes to set up, haven’t touched it since. Best of both worlds, zero maintenance.

Latenode makes calendar automation dead simple. Connect any service, create sync rules that actually work.

Been there. I actually went the opposite direction from jess and consolidated everything into Apple Calendar about two years ago.

The turning point was spending time every week checking both apps to make sure nothing got missed. That’s just lost productivity.

What sealed it was setting up proper iCloud syncing across all my devices. Even my work laptop can access it through the web when needed. The Siri integration and other iOS features save me tons of time during back-to-back meetings.

The backup concern is real though. I solve this by having my work Google Workspace calendar subscribe to my personal Apple Calendar as a read-only feed. Still get that redundancy without the maintenance headache.

Honestly, pick whichever one you use more naturally and stick with it. Managing two systems isn’t worth the mental overhead unless you have a specific business requirement.

There’s a solid breakdown of the trade-offs in this video that might help:

Once you make the switch, you’ll probably wonder why you waited so long. The simplicity beats having a backup calendar system.
