Hey everyone,
I’m having a weird issue with my iPhone and Spotify Connect. It used to work fine, but now the volume buttons on my phone don’t do anything when I’m using Spotify Connect to play music on my speakers. Has anyone else run into this problem?
I’ve tried restarting my phone, updating the app, and even reinstalling Spotify, but nothing seems to fix it. It’s really annoying because I have to open the app every time I want to adjust the volume.
Does anyone know if this is a bug or if there’s a setting I might have changed by accident? Any help would be awesome!
I’ve dealt with this frustrating issue before. One solution that worked for me was checking the volume control settings within the Spotify app itself. Sometimes, the app’s internal volume control can override your device’s buttons. Go to Spotify settings, then Playback, and ensure ‘Enable Audio Normalization’ is turned off. This often resolves the volume control problem.
Another thing to consider is your speaker’s compatibility. Some newer smart speakers have their own volume control systems that can conflict with your phone’s. Try adjusting the volume directly on the speaker to see if that works. If it does, you might need to update your speaker’s firmware or check its settings for any volume-related options.
If these don’t help, contacting Spotify support might be your best bet. They can check if there’s a known issue with your specific device and speaker combination.
hey man, i had the same problem last week. try disconnecting and reconnecting your speakers to spotify. sometymes the app gets confused and needs a reset. also, check if ur using the latest version of spotify. they fixed some bugs in the recent update that might help
I’ve been there, mate. One thing that solved this for me was clearing the Spotify app’s cache. Go to your iPhone settings, find Spotify, and tap ‘Clear Cache’. This can fix weird glitches like the volume control issue.
Another trick is to toggle airplane mode on and off. It sounds odd, but it can reset your network connections and sometimes fixes Spotify Connect problems.
If you’re using a VPN, try disabling it temporarily. VPNs can mess with Spotify’s connection to your speakers.
Lastly, check if this happens with other apps using AirPlay or Bluetooth. If it does, it might be an iOS issue rather than Spotify-specific. In that case, a full iPhone reset (not just restart) could be your best bet.
Hope one of these works for you!
I’ve encountered a similar issue with Spotify Connect and iPhone volume controls. What worked for me was toggling off the ‘Volume Limit’ in iPhone settings. Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Headphone Safety and make sure ‘Reduce Loud Sounds’ is turned off. This fixed the unresponsive volume controls for me when using Spotify Connect.
If that doesn’t work, try checking your speaker’s firmware. Sometimes outdated firmware can cause connectivity issues with Spotify Connect. Also, ensure your Wi-Fi connection is stable, as a weak signal can sometimes interfere with volume control functionality.
Lastly, if none of these solutions work, you might want to try logging out of your Spotify account on all devices and then logging back in. This can sometimes reset any glitchy behavior in the app.
