Spotify Price Increase - Is It Worth It?

I’ve been part of Spotify Family for 10 years and I’m really upset with the recent price increase. It feels like just last week they raised prices again. Are there any actual improvements in the app? If you count the unchanged homepage since 2014 as a feature, then I guess there are!

Just click on something by accident, and Spotify assumes you love it, bombarding you with suggestions you didn’t ask for. And what’s up with the ‘Not Interested’ button? It’s almost a joke.

Audiobooks? Yes, finally. Can you bookmark them? No. This has been requested for years in forums, but it’s like crickets over here.

Why pay more? They say it’s to fairly compensate artists, but I don’t see that happening.

I’ve used Apple Music too, and there are some cool things about it like great playlists, auto-mix feature, and a better equalizer. The downsides? Podcasts open in another app, which I find annoying, and there aren’t any audiobooks. But overall, it feels more complete and is cheaper.

So, should I switch and ignore Spotify’s recommendations, or just continue paying what they’re asking? Has anyone switched from Spotify and found satisfaction? Did you return or are you happy with the change?

Switched from Spotify to Apple Music 8 months ago after their price hike - should’ve done it sooner. The move wasn’t bad at all. Apple Music’s algorithm needed 2-3 weeks to get my taste down, but now the recommendations beat what Spotify was throwing at me. Sound quality’s noticeably better if you’ve got decent headphones. Yeah, I miss Spotify’s social stuff and the interface was weird at first, but I’m saving cash and getting better audio. Only real pain was losing my playlists, but I’ve rebuilt most of them. If you’re thinking about Apple Music and have other Apple gear, the integration alone makes the free trial worth it.

Dropped Spotify Premium six months ago for Tidal. I know, weird choice, but the sound quality’s actually noticeably better - lossless streaming makes a difference with decent headphones. Price is between Spotify and Apple Music now. Plus they pay artists way more than Spotify’s joke rates. Discovery works fine, nothing special but way better than Spotify’s mess of accidental clicks. Interface is cleaner without all that podcast crap they kept pushing. Moved my playlists over in twenty minutes with some transfer tool. Miss a few social features but don’t miss the constant price hikes and random changes. Tidal’s been solid - no billing surprises or random feature removals.

Honestly, I’d stick with Spotify. The price sucks but switching’s a pain and you’ll miss features anyway. Can you downgrade from family to individual? Apple Music has its own annoying issues too.

Been dealing with music service headaches for years at work - team playlists, office sound systems, the usual mess. Got tired of jumping between different streaming services, so I automated everything.

Set up Latenode to watch price changes across Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music. Price bump hits? It grabs my playlist data and calculates what it’ll cost to migrate. Takes 30 seconds vs hours of manual work.

Real game changer: workflow that syncs playlists between services. Spotify’s recommendations go to hell or Apple Music’s podcast thing pisses me off? I switch without losing anything. No more rebuilding playlists from scratch.

Also got automated playlist backups and smart filters for discovering new music across multiple sources. Way better than trusting one algorithm.

Your audiobook bookmark problem? Built a simple tracker that logs progress across different apps. Never lose your place.

Don’t get stuck with one service’s problems. Automate the switching and use whatever works best right now.

Same exact frustration after 8 years with Spotify. Tried YouTube Music on their free trial - didn’t expect much but it actually surprised me. The algorithm learns way faster than Spotify’s, probably since Google already knows what I watch and search for. Price’s competitive and music discovery feels more natural. What sold me was how it handles live versions and covers - way better catalog than Spotify or Apple Music for obscure stuff. Transition tools worked pretty well for moving playlists, though some tracks didn’t match perfectly. Interface took some getting used to but I like it better now. Only downside is weak podcast selection, but since you mentioned audiobooks, YouTube Music has decent audiobook options with premium. Worth trying if you want something different from the usual Apple/Spotify debate.

Same here with the price creep BS. Instead of getting stuck with one service, I just automated the whole thing.

Set up a workflow in Latenode that tracks pricing changes and my actual usage. When Spotify raised prices, it showed I was only using 60% of my family plan and found better options.

Best part? I sync my main playlists across Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music automatically. Price hike hits? I switch instantly without losing anything.

For audiobooks, I built a simple progress tracker that works with any service. Updates and syncs across devices without hassle.

I’ve got price alerts running too - caught three promo deals last year that paid for the whole setup.

Why get locked into one service’s problems? Just use whatever’s best right now and let automation handle the switching.
