tbh i didnt even notice until now lol. kinda miss the vinyl icon, it was cool. but i guess the new one makes more sense for most ppl. spotify always changin stuff. wonder what theyll switch next?

As someone who’s been using Spotify for years, I’ve seen plenty of UI changes come and go. This latest update to the activity icon caught my eye too. While I appreciate the nostalgia factor of the vinyl symbol, I can see why they made the switch. In my experience working in UX design, clarity often trumps aesthetics when it comes to user interfaces.
The new icon might lack some of that retro charm, but it’s undeniably more intuitive for the broader user base. I actually hadn’t noticed the icon change until you mentioned it. Just checked and you’re right - the vinyl record is gone. Personally, I thought the vinyl icon had a cool retro vibe that fit Spotify’s music focus.
