This year's Spotify Wrapped felt really disappointing

I just checked out my 2024 Spotify Wrapped and honestly it was pretty underwhelming compared to previous years. There were barely any cool statistics or insights about my listening habits. They didn’t even show music genres like they used to do before. The whole design and theme also seemed pretty boring and basic. I remember getting excited about Wrapped in past years because it had all these fun details about my music taste and listening patterns throughout the year. This time it just felt rushed and empty. Maybe I’m being too harsh but I expected way more interesting data and a better presentation. Did anyone else feel let down by their Wrapped this year or was it just me?

Exactly, Mike! Mine was just a boring top 5 artists and songs with some random listening minutes. Where’s the fun stuff like “you binged sad music at 3am” or those weird personality breakdowns? They didn’t even try to make it interesting this year. None of my friends bothered sharing theirs on social media like they did last year.

Yeah, Spotify really dropped the ball this year. But you don’t have to wait around for their basic yearly stats.

I got sick of Spotify’s boring data dumps, so I built my own music analytics. I pull from their API throughout the year and create reports that actually matter.

With automation, you can track way more than what they show. I monitor mood patterns from my song choices, spot when I’m discovering new genres, and connect my listening habits to weather or calendar events. The data’s all there - Spotify just shows you the dull stuff.

This used to need serious coding skills, but visual automation tools make it simple now. Pull your listening data, analyze it however you want, and generate your own wrapped experience monthly or whenever you feel like it.

Why settle for their disappointing annual summary when you can have ongoing insights that actually matter? Check out Latenode to build your own music analytics - beats waiting for Spotify to figure it out.

Same here - super disappointed. The worst part was losing that audio aura feature with the colors and patterns showing your listening moods. That thing was actually useful and helped me see how music connected to my emotions across different seasons. This year’s version feels like those bland year-end bank statements - works fine but has zero personality. And where’s the comparative data? Previous years told you stuff like ‘you listened to 40% more indie rock’ or ‘discovered twice as many new artists.’ Those comparisons made you think about how your taste changed. Now it’s just random numbers with no story.

You’re not alone. I’ve used Spotify since 2018 and this year’s Wrapped sucked compared to previous ones. They ditched the genre breakdown, which was my favorite part - loved seeing how my taste changed over the year. The whole thing felt generic. Previous years had those weird personal insights that showed Spotify actually got your music habits. This year? Just basic stats with zero creativity or personality. Maybe they’re short on resources or just phoning it in since everyone expects Wrapped now.

Same here, super disappointed. The worst part? They axed the monthly listening breakdowns that showed which songs dominated different parts of your year. Those timeline features actually helped me remember what I was obsessing over in March vs October. Now it’s just basic data points with zero storytelling - the whole thing that made Wrapped cool in the first place. The shareable graphics look boring as hell compared to 2022 and 2023’s vibrant designs. Feels like they cared more about pushing premium subscriptions than making something users would actually enjoy.
