I’ve been having issues with my ad blocker not working properly on the Twitch streaming platform lately. Despite having uBlock Origin installed and configured correctly, I’m still seeing advertisements play during streams. I’ve tried updating my filter lists, clearing my browser cache, disabling other extensions that might interfere, and even reinstalling the ad blocker completely. I’ve also checked various online forums for updated filter rules and custom scripts that are supposed to help with Twitch ads specifically. However, none of these solutions seem to work anymore. The ads just keep playing as if there’s no ad blocking extension installed at all. Has anyone else experienced this problem recently? I’m wondering if Twitch has implemented some new anti-adblock technology that’s bypassing the usual blocking methods. Any suggestions or alternative solutions would be greatly appreciated.
This has been driving me crazy too, especially since October when Twitch started that server-side ad injection. Here’s what worked for me: I set up a separate browser profile for Twitch with uBlock Origin and turned on the ‘uBlock filters - Annoyances’ list. I also manually added the ‘Web Annoyances Ultralist’ from the filter section. The real game-changer was clearing all Twitch cookies and site data, then restarting the browser before going back to Twitch. This somehow resets whatever they’re using to catch ad blockers. It’s not bulletproof, and you’ll have to do it every few weeks, but it definitely kills more ads than just letting them play.
yeah, twitch’s ad block detection is nuts now. purple adblock works way better than ublock for twitch - diferent bypass methods. also, try switching to firefox if you’re on chrome. they seem to target chrome users more.
Twitch keeps updating their ad system to beat blockers, and uBlock Origin can’t keep up with their newer tricks. I switched to Streamlink with VLC about six months ago when blocking got unreliable. It skips the web player completely and streams straight to VLC - zero ads. Takes a few minutes to set up but works perfectly. When I have to use browser, switching DNS servers like NextDNS or AdGuard helps temporarily, but Twitch catches on eventually. Reality is Twitch dumps serious money into anti-adblock tech since ads pay the bills, so browser solutions get harder to maintain.
