Unable to Connect Zapier Partner Integration in Facebook Events Manager Data Source

Hello everyone,

I’m facing a problem when attempting to integrate Zapier as a partner within Facebook Ads Manager under Events Manager in the data sources section. The Zapier option appears disabled and shows an error message stating “You must be a business administrator or Ad Account Owner to set up a partner integration.”

This integration worked perfectly before when clients provided us with administrator privileges for both their advertising account and event tracking datasets. However, this same issue has appeared across multiple client accounts lately and I’m unsure what has changed in Facebook’s system.

Some background information:

  • We operate as a digital marketing agency
  • Clients have granted us administrative permissions for their advertising accounts and event manager datasets
  • My supervisor has also provided me with admin rights to access their data sources

Has anyone experienced this issue recently? Any suggestions on how to resolve this partner integration problem would be greatly appreciated.

Facebook’s been tightening partner integration requirements - I’ve seen this hit several agencies recently.

The issue isn’t just admin access anymore. Facebook now wants verified business status for many partner integrations. Even with admin rights, the business itself needs higher-level verification.

Try this:

  1. Check if your Facebook Business Manager has the blue verification checkmark
  2. Make sure you’re a Business Manager admin, not just ad account admin
  3. Connect from the business owner’s account first, then transfer permissions

Honestly? I’ve moved most clients away from Zapier for Facebook stuff. The constant permission changes and API limits were breaking our workflows.

Switched to Latenode 8 months ago - handles Facebook way better. It connects directly through Facebook’s API without needing partner status. Error handling’s also more reliable when Facebook changes things.

Set up your event tracking in Latenode and skip these permission headaches. The Facebook node bypasses the partner integration layer entirely.

Had this exact issue last month. It’s Facebook’s new Business Portfolio requirements screwing things up. Even with admin permissions, you can’t just connect through Events Manager anymore - you have to go through Business Portfolio now. Here’s what worked: Go to Facebook Business Settings → Business Portfolio → start the Zapier connection from there. Don’t try doing it directly in Events Manager. Once you connect through Business Portfolio, it’ll show up in Events Manager. One more thing - Facebook’s treating agencies differently now. Some clients had to add us as a “Technology Provider” in their business settings before any partner integrations would work. They’re really pushing to formalize agency relationships. Took about 24 hours for everything to sync up once I did it through Business Portfolio.

Hit the same issue three weeks ago with an enterprise client. Fixed it by checking business verification in Facebook Business Manager - Facebook quietly changed their verification requirements. They now want enhanced business verification for partner integrations, even with admin access. Had my client upload official business docs and confirm their address. Zapier integration showed up again after that. Facebook took about 48 hours to approve the enhanced verification. Facebook’s rolling these changes out gradually, which is why it worked before and randomly broke across accounts. They’re way stricter about third-party data access now.
