Verifying GreenHopper installation in Jira: Any quick checks?

Hey everyone,

I’m a bit confused about my Jira setup. The IT guy said they added GreenHopper, but I can’t seem to find any signs of it. I’ve looked around the interface, but nothing jumps out at me as being GreenHopper-related.

Does anyone know a quick way to confirm if GreenHopper is actually installed? Maybe there’s a specific menu or feature I should be looking for?

I’d really appreciate any tips or tricks to figure this out. It would save me from bothering the IT team again if I could just check it myself.

Thanks in advance for any help!

hey there! i’ve dealt with this before. try clicking on ur user profile pic in the top right corner. if greenhopper’s installed, u should see an option called ‘manage boards’ or something similar. that’s a dead giveaway. if not, maybe IT forgot to activate it for ya. good luck!

As someone who’s been using Jira for years, I can tell you that verifying GreenHopper (now called Jira Software) is pretty straightforward. First, check the top-left corner of your Jira dashboard. You should see a ‘Projects’ dropdown menu. Click on it and look for an option called ‘Scrum’ or ‘Kanban’ boards. If you see either of these, GreenHopper is installed.

Another quick check is to go to a project and look for the ‘Backlog’ or ‘Board’ options in the left sidebar. These are key features of GreenHopper/Jira Software.

If you don’t see these, it’s possible GreenHopper is installed but not configured for your user account, so you might need to reach out to your Jira admin for the correct permissions.

Hope this helps you confirm without having to bother IT again!

From my experience, a quick way to verify GreenHopper (now Jira Software) is installed is to check the ‘Add’ menu at the top of your Jira interface. If you see options like ‘Create Sprint’ or ‘Create Board’, that’s a clear indicator GreenHopper is active.

Another telltale sign is the presence of an ‘Agile’ section in your Jira administration area. Navigate to the admin settings and look for this. If it’s there, GreenHopper is definitely installed.

Lastly, try creating a new project. If you see project types like ‘Scrum’ or ‘Kanban’, that’s GreenHopper at work. These options wouldn’t be available in standard Jira.

If none of these checks pan out, it’s likely GreenHopper isn’t installed or properly configured. In that case, you’ll need to follow up with your IT team for clarification.
