Hey everyone! I need help finding a new place to host my Discord bot. I was using Glitch before but they’re closing down their free hosting service. Now I’m stuck looking for alternatives but everything I find costs money. I’m a student so I really need something free. Has anyone found good free hosting options for Discord bots? I just need somewhere to deploy my bot code without paying monthly fees. Any recommendations would be awesome!
Railway’s free tier works great for Discord bots. You get 500 hours monthly, which covers most personal projects. Deployment’s easy with GitHub integration, and they support Python and Node.js. I’ve run my bot there for six months with zero problems. Only downside is your bot sleeps when inactive, but it wakes up fast. Just watch your usage - going over means charges. Their docs are solid for Discord bot setup.
i’ve been using render.com and it’s solid. free plan gives you 750 hours monthly - beats railway’s limit. super easy to deploy too - just link your github repo and it auto-builds. only downside is slow cold starts, but once it’s up and running, no complaints.
Heroku’s still got free hosting if you’re a student - just need to verify your status. I jumped ship from Glitch after their changes and honestly should’ve done it way earlier. Once you figure out the git commands, deployment’s pretty easy. Your bot actually stays online without those annoying sleep issues other platforms have. My medium-sized server bot’s been running solid. Yeah, you’ll need to add a card for verification, but you won’t get charged unless you go over the free limits (which are pretty generous for most Discord bots). Learning curve’s totally worth it for the stability.
