I’m looking into different Discord bots that handle support tickets and would love to hear about your experiences. Have you used any ticket bots on your server or interacted with them as a regular user?
What I’m hoping to learn:
- Which ticket bots you’ve tried
- What features worked well for you
- Any problems or limitations you ran into
- How easy they were to set up and manage
- Whether users found them helpful or confusing
I’m trying to put together a comparison of the available options to help choose the right one for our community. Any insights about what makes a ticket bot effective or frustrating would be really helpful!
dyno’s ticket system is honestly underrated. i’ve been using it for 6 months on our art server and it’s rock solid. the dashboard beats slash commands for managing tickets. only downside is the monthly cost for premium features, but the free basic ticketing works great for smaller communities.
We’ve used TicketTool on our gaming server for 8 months - it’s solid. Setup took 20 minutes, super straightforward. Best feature is automatic channel creation. Users click the reaction and get a private channel with staff instantly. Easy to add other mods to tickets and keeps everything organized. We had one problem early on - ticket channels wouldn’t delete after closing. Cluttered the server until we fixed the permissions. Most users figure it out fast. Some people open multiple tickets for the same issue, but that’s user error. Response times are way better than our old general help channel where stuff got buried. Not perfect, but works great for medium communities without much fuss.
We’ve been using Carl-bot for over a year and it’s solid. Moderation’s decent, but the ticket system is where it really delivers. Love how it works with roles - you can restrict which staff see tickets from specific categories. Auto-transcription saves everything, which has saved our asses multiple times when disputes pop up later. Users can’t delete messages after creating tickets, so you always have the full conversation. Biggest complaint? Customization sucks compared to paid bots. Default embeds look basic and you can’t tweak much. Goes offline sometimes during Discord outages, but that’s on Discord, not them. For free though, it covers 90% of what most servers need. Setup was easy with their docs.
Had this exact problem at my company. Tried tons of Discord ticket bots - they all suck in the same ways.
Ticket Tool and Carl-bot work for basic stuff, but that’s it. Need custom workflows or want to connect to your existing systems? Forget it.
These bots can’t handle complex routing. Can’t send different ticket types to different channels. Can’t auto-assign based on keywords. And syncing data between Discord and your other tools? Good luck.
I ditched the bots and built custom automation instead. Now our Discord tickets automatically create CRM entries, ping Slack, and update our knowledge base when we solve common issues.
Takes about an hour to set up and you get exactly what you want instead of fighting bot limitations. Plus you can tweak the workflow whenever without waiting for some developer to maybe add features.
Latenode’s great for building custom Discord automation like this. Handles all the API stuff and lets you create ticket workflows that actually work for you: https://latenode.com
