What's the most unexpected feature missing from Airtable?

I’m curious why Airtable lacks an effective method for linking individual cells rather than just tables. This topic often comes up in discussions here and is frequently mentioned in their forums, indicating it’s a common pain point. Many users find this limitation awkward, leading to overly complicated automation solutions.

While I understand that linking cells directly might not align with traditional database practices, such functionality is prevalent in spreadsheets, and its absence seems to hinder usability. If this design could lead to database issues, why isn’t there a more suitable built-in approach available?

Has anyone else considered why there’s such a high demand for this feature that remains unaddressed?

Honestly, a huge suprise is the lack of a native notification system for when updates happen. You’d think a tool like Airtable would have that built in! i have to rely on zaps or other 3rd party tool to get any notifications, which can be a bit clunky. anyone else fele the same?
